In each of the literary works found in Modern American Prose, I have had an opinion of the results in most of the readings instead of accepting the author’s proposals. Each work demands personal contribution from the reader, as a result the writings found within qualify as literature rather than technical prose. For example, I found Eiseley’s “Brothers and Sisters” to be biased and personal, directed towards the black man. ... While fishing he found “everything was as it always had been, that the years were a mirage and there had been no years”(495).
