Johann Sebastian Bach, famous composer of the Baroque period, was born in the village of Eisenach, German in 1685 to a musical family; his father, Johann Ambrousis Bach, was the town musician. Bach at a young age became a superbly well-rounded musician; he sang in the church choir; his father taught him to play the violin. It is important to note that Bach, a Lutheran, attend church and sang in the choir at the church in which Martin Luther wrote hymns. At the age of eight, young Bach no longer attended school.
