History Essay 10/11/03 There were many reasons for the failure of the League of Nations including, the U.S.A not being a member despite the fact that it was Woodrow Wilson’s idea in the first place. The fact that some country’s didn’t join the League or wasn’t even allowed to may have been a cause to the failure of the League of Nations. The fact that Economic sanctions did not work may have been a factor in the downfall of the League. The League didn’t have an army to help enforce the sanctions placed on other countries. The decisions made by the League were slow therefore taken too long to make the right choice. Possibly one of the main reasons for the failure of the League of Nations was that the U.S.A and other important countries were absent.
