United We Stand

United We Must Stand Our generation has become more diverse, therefore, leading to a wide selection of an individual’s preference to their chosen idol. The song’s lyrics of “What’s going on” include expressions of equality, love, anti-war, unity, courage, and many other powerful words that have a sense of togetherness and strength. In addition, the song contains a mixture of different genres, style, and performers which should satisfy more individuals because they should be able to find their style within the song. Some of the artists include: P.Diddy, Gwen Stefani, Aaron Lewis, Jennifer Lopez, Nona Gaye, Nelly, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Destiny’s Child, Ja Rule, Michael Stipe, Alicia Keys, Fred Durst, Nas, and a few others; these artists are also within our Millennial generation. “What’s going on” should be the anthem of the millennial generation because it incorporates various artists and genres and strong lyrics about unity and love. The millennial generation has experienced more crime, war, sexual exposure, and poverty. Moreover, this generation has had exposure to terrorists’ attacks and threats. “You see war is not the answer/For only love can conquer hate…Everybody thinks we’re wrong/Oh but who are they to judge us/Together we can all be strong…United we stand/United we fall” (Backstreet Boys, Michael Stipe, and P.Diddy). Through these lyrics, they are trying to state that we need to come together and not solve our problems through war. Many people have developed a hate toward our enemies overseas. However we have to try and resolve our disputes through less violent ways before we declare war. We have become more individualized and have lost some of our sense of unity.
