Both of the television programmes I have chosen to study are ‘Situation-comedies’ and ‘Science-fiction’ programmes, so I guess the hybrid name would be ‘Sitcom-Scifi’ programmes. ... They both have very similar aspects but take a very different approach to their genre, most noticeably because whilst Red Dwarf is an actual television programme, Futurama was completely animated but is by no means a cartoon! ... Because the television programme was only written by one of the two writers of the book, it does not progress in the main story as fast as the book, which means there can be more, smaller stories in each episode as well.
