“Real Boys” by William Pollack is a eye opening book that lets anyone who reads it see more into boys minds then ever before. ... “Real Boys” Talks about how different boys are experiencing this crisis and how they deal it. The “Boy Code” As the author calls it, is the code that boys are always bad and are trouble makers, like for instance, the phrase, “boys will be boys. ... Everyone abides by the “code” that all boys are to be manly and tough and not show their feelings. Even people, who say that they want to let boys be what they are, sometimes use the boy code against boys. ... Most moms do a separation from their boys at about five or six because mom’s are afraid if their boys are too attached to their mom’s, then they will be made fun of in school, and they won’t grow up to be tough like a man. ... The author talks about how boys show love differently to different people and to each of their parents. ... Boys need their moms to lean on, to talk to, and to help them when they are down. Boys need their fathers to give them guidance in life, to help them make the right choices and to set an example that being loving and caring is good today’s society.
When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t very interested because, I, being a girl had no real interest in what boys problems were, I always figured that it wasn’t much deeper then having a girlfriend and keeping their cars running.
