The problems in this case are numerous and are contributed to by all players. Sandra Lee took a position to advance her career without fully understanding the task. She waited until she arrived at the school to put together a plan. ... Things like painting the school in cheerful colors and planting flowers were nice and pleasing to the eye but did nothing to solve the real problems of the school. Sandra never consulted the past principal or even talked to anybody about the school and its situation. She never inquired about the culture, background, or situation of South Heights which would have clued her in to develop a plan before she arrived and perhaps have inspired her to seek professional guidance in dealing with people she did not understand and did not know how to handle.
Teachers at the school have not been to a professional development workshop for a long time. ...
The neglect of the school by the school board served to reinforce the community’s belief in being left behind from a community’s point of view. ...
