Scarlet Street, made in 1936, was directed my Fritz Lange and stars Edward G. Robinson as Chris Cross, Joan Bennett as Kathryn March, and Dan Duryea as Johnny Prince. It is definitely one of the oldest movies I have ever seen. Film has always interested me. Until a couple of years ago I wanted to work in the film industry so I have always looked at movies that I watch for something more than entertainment. This film certainly did offer a lot in a addition to entertainment. Because of the time period that it was made in, It offers an interesting insight the American society’s norms and mores of the 1930’s. Perhaps the most interesting thing was the sexism in the movie.
