Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson both did their parts in attempt to improve foreign relations, the American economy, and deal with the communist threat. One may have focused more on one topic than the other. Some will argue over who did more for the issues, but the fact is they each did their part, more or less, to improve what they could. John F. Kennedy’s attempt to improve America’s economy can when he sought a tax cut to stimulate the economy. At the time of his assassination, however, these and other programs such as federal aid to education and Medicare remained tied up in Congress. Kennedy also had to deal largely with foreign relations during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
