Many experts have pledged Law Enforcement Officers as a "Subculture," in particular Police Officers. Society as a whole views Police Officers as a group that maintains a unique set of values, beliefs, and traditions. These views are obtained and presented to society by the judicial system and the mass media. However, studies have shown that Police Officers tend to isolate themselves from society because officers feel that society doesn't understand the emotional rollercoaster they experience. Many officers experience fear from day one as recruits in the Police Academy. Police veterans teaching the recruits instill this fear through war stories. For example, the veterans share there experiences that may include complaints against police, shootings, and Police Officers being arrested for corrupt acts.
