Censorship
Censorship is the prohibition of anything deemed obscene or objectionable by a
figure of power and authority. ... Various types of censorship
have existed throughout the history of our nation, ranging from the banning of certain
books in colonial times, to the modern-day censorship of all racial epithets. Many debates
have raged on through the years concerning whether or not there should be any type of
censorship at all, while the scope of the First Amendment becomes wider and wider. I
believe that censorship can have both a positive and negative impact on society.
One of the most prominent types of censorship is the restriction on movies and
television. This aspect of censorship is unique in the way that it has transformed along
with the changing values of cultural acceptance. ... ” In this case, it is the lack of
