SAS Institute
Internet Article Review
SAS Institute was featured on 60 Minutes February 8, 2001 as being “regularly voted one of the best, if not the best, company to work for” (Another, 2001). This article reports how pleased employees are with working for SAS Institute. 60 Minutes interviews a few of the employees to find out first hand why SAS is so wonderful to work for.
The people side of managing seems to be prominent at SAS Institute. SAS Institute founders, James Goodnight and John Sall, believe “if you treat employees as if they make a difference to the company, they will make a difference to the company” (Another, 2001). ... SAS provides onsite medical and child care, car washing facilities, dry cleaning services, a subsidized cafeteria, a masseuse, playing fields for Frisbee or soccer, a swimming poll, aerobics, a weight room and basketball court. It is not wonder why employees like Doug Teasly, a programmer for SAS, rather turn down job offers paying $30,000 more per year than he’s making now.
