Bringhurst’s Classification of Type
Over the years many different categorization systems have been used to classify and group together different types. In The Elements of Typographic Style, well know poet and typographer Robert Bringhurst creates an organization system that groups type into eight distant categories. This system of classification relates type categories into historical eras. Below you will find a reference that will assist you in identifying Bringhurst’s type classification. This should give you a brief historical synopsis that will aid you in further understanding type.
