English 3 One Page Essay In the poem Mirror by Sylvia Plath, she discusses how a mirror has “no preconceptions”. A mirror can only see and reflect an image, it has no conscience, and therefore what you see is what you get, as the reference in the poem says that the mirror is “not cruel, only truthful.” We don't always see things as they are, we see them as we are because our view of the world can never be objective - it is tainted by personal experience. To gain more insight I stood gazing into a mirror to see what Ms. Plath may have been referring to. As I looked, I saw many holes and dips where I hadn’t realized I had them.
