Dry-eyed syndrome was a term given to those who had lost the ability to cry due to radiation exposure from nuclear fallout of some kind- where their tear ducts were not lubricated enough to produce tears. If this were true then it would seem the western society has dry-eyed syndrome of the worst kind- the inability to produce tears due to the inability care.
