During Lord Byrons period of literature, the Romantic era, poets embraced the
concept of self expression through using imagination to portray their own ideas of life and love,
and emotion in general. The power of these emotions is evident in Lord Byrons poem, "She
Walks in Beauty. ... In the poem, Lord Byron edifies the balance between two opposing
forces. ... Recurrently, Byron makes use of visual imagery that allows the reader to understand
and appreciate the symmetry between a womans beauty and the culmination of darkness and
light.
"She Walks in Beauty" can be understood as a love poem, an ode of sorts to a beautiful
woman. It even seems as though Byron is writing to/of a lover. ... By
understanding the origin of the poem, the reader is able to see that Byron is epitomizing the
theme of darkness versus light through the Ladys beauty while mourning.
