Writers in the early Renaissance devoted themselves to the study of language, literature, and architecture of the ancient world. They used ancient writings as models. The renaissance writers deepened the study of the meaning of human culture and the quality of being human. In the late sixteenth century writers like William Shakespeare showed a lot of interest in issues of personal choice. In their writing they expressed their excitement of a new age of discovery. They used old ideas and made them into writings with their own expressions. Sonnets are an example.
