Nick Carraway is affected greatly by the life of Jay Gatsby. When Nick first moves out to the east, he is there to sell bond and live a respectable life, but is soon thrust into an entirely different lifestyle after meeting Gatsby. Nick begins attending the lavish parties that Gatsby throws and also starts to form a trusting friendship with Gatsby. When Nick and Gatsby go on their first drive together, Gatsby reveals much of his past to Nick, almost building up his credibility.
