Day Lincoln was Shot by Jim Bishop

Civil war, conflict, and the countless threats against his life were all part of Abraham Lincoln’s life during his term as President of the United States. ... The Day Lincoln Was Shot, by Jim Bishop, took a closer look at the events that occurred on that day, and also the events leading up to his assassination. The book reveals a strange prophetic dream, the government’s neglect, Lincoln’s carelessness toward his own well being, as well as the inevitability of Lincoln’s assassination.
The Day Lincoln was Shot was not meant to be controversial or display Bishop’s personal political opinions. Rather, Bishop tried to present solid facts about the day of Lincoln’s death. This hour-by-hour account of April 14, 1865 revealed detailed descriptions of each person of importance in Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth’s lives, and also all the historical facts in Bishop’s possession. ...
One theme running throughout the book was the series of strange prophetic warnings of Lincoln’s death. One of the most direct warnings Lincoln had was a disturbing nightmare. ... ” After this, Lincoln woke up, disturbed and tense. Bishop points out that this dream might have been provoked by the constant threats to his life by conspirators from the Confederacy, and by the stress of the war, but this is not where the story ends. After Lincoln woke up from his dream, he started reading his Bible, as he was a Christian man. ... Assassination may have been on his mind, because for weeks before his death, Lincoln constantly mentioned it. ... There were also other instances where Lincoln seemed to think that he would be assassinated, such as the morning of his death, when he told one of his friends he would probably be assassinated by the end of his term.
The government tried to follow up on any threats to Lincoln’s life, but because of the Civil War that was waging, there were many people in the Confederacy who resented Lincoln.
