Fallen Leaders On April 3, 1996, members of the Parsons Corp. and Barrington Group along with 10 other companies were thrown into chaos as in the plane that they were traveling crashed in the Balkans. They were heading back from a conference on rebuilding war-torn Bosnia. Everyone on board held a lofty position within their respective companies. Many of whom died included CEOs and presidents. Suddenly, these companies faced the task of trying to hold themselves together without top-level mgmt for guidance, not to mention a personal loss for many. Leonard Pieroni, CEO of Parsons, died on that fateful Wednesday, but all was not lost. He had a plan in place, a plan that would carry his company on, in the event that tragedy might someday befall him.
