Hamlet
“Hamlet” by William Shakespeare is set in Denmark where a young prince, Hamlet, has to come to terms with the deeply traumatic circumstances that have occurred. His father, The King of Denmark, (who is also called Hamlet) seems to have died due to “natural causes” and his mother, Gertrude, has rather hurriedly married his uncle Claudius within roughly two months of his father’s death. Hamlet is very angry and distressed about this; he does not know what to do until something very important happens which sparks this whole inspirational story off. ... It looks very much like the king but it does not speak to them so they do not mention anything to anyone apart from Horatio who is Hamlet’s friend. ... Horatio decides to mention the ghost sighting to Hamlet since after all it is the ghost of his father. When Hamlet hears this he goes with the guards on their watch and waits for the ghost to re-appear which it does. It beckons Hamlet to follow which he does until he reaches the top of the castle and there it is where the ghost of his father finally speaks to Hamlet telling him the real truth about his untimely death. ... This enrages Hamlet and he swears revenge on his Uncle Claudius like his father has told him to do, “Haste me to know’t, that I with wings as swift as meditation or the thoughts of love may sweep to my revenge.
