Write an analysis of the Friends of the Earth commercial ‘Rainforest’ with reference to the following areas, audience, language, industry and representation. Charity advertising comes under a lot of criticism from the public and the media because they will ask for donations to help the cause, but then spend thousands on advertising. It is a vicious circle in which charities cannot won, they either don’t advertise so not as many people know so therefore do not donate or spend precious donations on advertising and hopefully get more. Charity adverts are different from a typical advert because of giving money and getting a product in exchange you give money for the ‘feel good factor’. Charity adverts are sometimes classed as political and therefore most oftened screened at the cinema, before the main film where the audience is captured. This commercial is aimed at adults but it affects everybody in the world. The friends of the Earth commercial is striking and moving.
