What role has Black music played in popularising African-American cinema for a mass audience? Relate your argument to any TWO films of your choice
Music has always been a vital tool in film, especially theme songs like Shaft (1971) and Superfly (1972), we are able to connect and recognise what the film will be about.
To show the role Black music has played in popularising African-American cinema, I will be using two very different films form two different genres and decades. ... Directed by Theodore Witcher, which focus on the lives of two young black Americans Nina Mosley and Darius Lovehall and there struggle to find love in a lonely world, this film is a drama, romance.
The themes tunes to early films were important as the soundtrack often preceded the film to build up the publicity, and attracted the viewers to the cinema.
