Getting close to a month ago, the United States of America declared war against the Middle Eastern nation of Iraq. At the time of writing this paper, the United States declared that the major battles in Iraq are over and that combat will start to slow down. Before the campaign to liberate Iraq started, however, there were a number of people worldwide that expressed ill feelings towards our government. They claimed that by going to war with Iraq, the US would be damaging our relationships with other nations, killing numerous citizens, and cause great economic problems within our country. Some people were so against the war that they would stand in the middle of streets, jeopardizing the safety of others. They also believed that we were going into Iraq in order to get oil. Now, I am not pro-war. In fact, I would hope that no one in this world is pro-war. I believe that war should be the last resort in any, if not all, cases. We, as the United States, had no other choice but to declare war on Iraq. The United Nations, supposedly the world’s police, placed numerous resolutions and sanctions against Iraq dating back from the 1980s. The Iraqis, however, continued to break the sanctions placed against them without thinking twice. The UN even stated numerous times, for example, that the new resolution on Iraq would be their last chance to abide by the resolution or the UN would go invade Iraq.
