Life is Beautiful
Not many directors could be successful in creating a movie that brings happiness into one of the worst periods in modern history - the Holocaust during World War II but Roberto Benignis Life is Beautiful was a success. Through the ability to laugh not only at himself but also at the establishment that oppressed his way of life, Guido (Benigni) was able to keep his son Joshua (Giorgio Cantarini) calm and give Joshua and his wife Dora (Nicoletta Braschi) hope when he himself had already resigned to his condemnation.
The use of color in “Life is Beautiful” is integral in making the dramatic shift that takes place halfway through the film. ...
Although some may see “Life is Beautiful” as a mocking of the Holocaust, to me the movie display a fathers love and sacrifice for his son.
