Buddhism Mindfulness is the key factor in meditation. With out it, you might as well stop meditating. It will do you no good otherwise. It “clears your lenses”, allowing you to see things in clarity. In karate, I clear my mind of all thoughts, opinions, and images. These are distractions that prevent me from awareness. Karate requires absolute concentration and alertness. You need to respond to a ninety mile per hour punch or kick. It took a long time for me to realize that you cannot blankly pass through a session. I would always wonder why I was getting hit so often. I then began to see that I wasn’t paying full attention like I should have. Mindfulness aids you in recognizing that you have tried your best, and you come to understand that you do not have to impress anyone.
