Death of a Salesman Willy Loman is a man who has many different character traits. His interactions with other characters in the play make his traits more noticeable and recognizable. The main people he interacts with are Biff, Howard, but most of all, Linda. Willy sometimes sees Biff as a disappointment because he doesn’t believe Biff has grown up to be all he can be. He often puts Biff down for living the way he does. Biff asks Happy what Willy says about him and he replies, “I think the fact that you’re not settled, and that you’re still kind of up in the air.” (Miller 10). This shows that although Willy seems to criticize biff a lot, he only wants the best for him. He wants Biff to get settled and be stable. He says while having a flashback, “never leave a job till you’re finished- remember that.” (Miller 17). This again shows that he’s concerned about biff and happy living a good life and growing up to be responsible.
