Contrasted to Ezra's almost unconscious need to love and nurture is Cody's persistent anger and resentment. Despite his personal success, Cody's childhood jealousy toward Ezra seems to intensify with the passing of time. When Ezra finally finds himself a homey bride who shares his passion for cooking and feeding others, Cody stealthfully plots to win her away. She eventually succumbs to his relentless campaign, leaving Ezra to continue cooking for the regular Homesick crowd. Cody Tull, Pearl's eldest child, who is tall, dark haired, and handsome. His youthful rebellious behavior and adult success as a time study expert mask a deep seated lack of self-confidence.
