Looking back to Pow 14 that involved 8 bags of gold I used the method in that provided the fewest tries as a starting point. I first divided the 12 bags in to 3 groups, each having 4 bags. ... Then I would move on to group C, I would divide the group into 2 groups of 2 bags. ... This could be done by comparing two bags on the scale and finding that they are even. ... Guessing which two bags to compare would take up a whole weighing so guessing would provided a good estimate as only 1/12 bags is counterfeit (92%).
After that I could compare to that bag to all the other bags which would give me very accurate results but I would have to do it 11 times.
