Reflective Essay This was it, the big day that I had been waiting for. True, it had taken me long enough to get this close to her, but I didn’t care, the moment was finally here and I wasn’t about to let anything spoil it. I knew that I liked her from the moment I had the privilege of making her acquaintance. She had flaming locks of auburn hair, ivory skin, and the kind of big brown eyes that made your knees turn into jelly whenever you looked at her. “Today is the day that the boys will be separated from the men,” I thought, “And I’m not about to go home as a boy….” I tried to break the ice by telling her a few jokes on the drive to the restaurant. Needless to say, she wasn’t amused. Feeling the tremendous pressure that is only made possible by the phenomenon of silence, I began getting desperate. My lack of preparedness, coupled with my eagerness to please, made for a bad combination.
