... This leads me to support the post-modern position of historical objectivity. When conducting a deeper analysis of historical events, it is nearly impossible to learn in an entirely objective manner.
To a certain degree, I agree with the prepositions discussed by Albert Fell in Historical Objectivity. In this essay Fell explains historical objectivity as being partial due to the preconceived biases that are found in all people. He refers to the “Noble Dream” concept discussed by Charles Beard to explain that it would be almost impossible to recount a historical event entirely from factual data. Instead he claims that a clear historical recitation is dependant on the “proper use of evidence. ... I think that his point was to indicate that a shift in context plays a large part in the changing views of a historical event. ... His claim is that one definite truth as to a historical event is impossible, and he uses the bombing of Hiroshima as an example. ... It would be impossible to conduct a historical investigation in a completely objective sense because even the evidence used will hold some partiality.
