Today there are many negative stereotypes and "myths" surrounding Barbarians but hopefully I will be able to challenge these. By focusing on the history, civilization, and culture of the Northern European Iron-Age barbarians in particular I hope to alter any stereotypes that may be present for these remarkable people. ...
The Barbarians were a tall, fierce, fair-haired and fair-skinned people, kinda like ladky Those who came in contact with them considered them uncivilized and yet were fascinated by their strength, stamina, and force of will, charisma, and versatility. ... Their fierce warlike nature and coarse behaviors earned them the name “barbarians,” meaning both “illiterates” and “wanderers.”
However we are now able to identify Barbarians as very religious people with an extremely elaborate belief system. ... For the Barbarians the Universe consisted of 9 separate and distinct worlds. While we today do not participate in this act we do participate in many of the practices set up by barbarians centuries ago without even knowing it. ... Another influence from the Barbarians is the base of 12 in our mathematical system, such as 24 hour days, 60 minutes in an hour, 12 months a year and buying things in dozens.
