The Amerindians are a group of forest dwelling people who are indigenous to the Brazilian rainforest. They are a self-sufficient people who live in small relatively primitive villages. They practice a highly economical method of farming in which they find an area of land, clear it, cultivate it reap the produce and then move on to another site leaving the old site to regain some of the nutrient lost in the farming process. There are many different tribes within the Amerindian race who inhabit different parts of the forest. But their way of life is being threatened. Deforestation and contact with white people is having a terrible effect on the livelihood of theses people. 80 percent of Amerindians die with in a month of first contact with white people.
