Poet, activist, and choreographer, Janice Mirikitani exemplifies the Asian-American artists who found focus and vision via the political struggles of the sixties and seventies.
Mirikitani was a member of the predominantly Japanese American female organization--The Asian American Political Alliance. ... As a writer activist, Mirikitani founded the Third World Communications Collective, A Third World Womens Collective, and published Aion, one of the few Asian American publications that existed during this time period. During the late sixties and seventies, Janice wrote
autobiographical poetry that revealed her radical ideologies at the time.
