Historical Leader Paper Anne Schley Duggan Anne Schley Duggan was born in Dallas, Texas on October 20, 1905. She attended elementary and secondary school in Belton, Texas and the enrolled in Baylor College for Women in 1923. Anne Duggan graduated from Baylor College for Women that is now called Mary Hardin-Baylor College with her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1927. Her first book was published in 1929, titled Tap Dancing Simplified. She went on to publish many other books, in 1932 Tap Dance, 1935 Tap Dance for School and Recreation, 1940 The complete Tap Dance Book, 1942, Conditioning Exercises for Girls and Women, she had articles published in Encyclopedia Britannica, Educational Dance, The Southwestern Musician, and CORD. Miss Duggan went to Columbia University in New York to continue her graduate work. She graduated with her Masters of Arts degree in 1931, from Columbia University. After devoting four years of graduate study Miss. Duggan received the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1936 from Columbia University. She titled her dissertation “A Comparative Study of Undergraduate Women Majors and Non-Majors in Physical Education with Respect to Certain Personal Traits.” Dr.
