Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is a novel which portrays the life of a middle-class country family in England during the early nineteenth century. The family, the Bennetts, is currently trying to find a rich high class man for each of their five daughters (Elizabeth, Kitty, Mary and Lydia). to marry, and the search for suitable candidates becomes even more pressurised when they hear that their home could be taken from them. The main character, Elizabeth Bennet, is an intelligent, witty, and opinionated young woman, and prides herself on being an excellent judge of character. She has already turned down one persons proposal because she only wants to marry for love, and not to boost her and her families social status.
