The down side to this is that many transistors are needed for this and many more for quicker programs. Microprocessors can be programmed and reprogrammed at a low cost and reduced effort as wiring dose not need replaced or changed to carry out these functions. Reliability and Functionality of a microprocessor is buy far greater than conventional method of machanics and hardwired components. The system is much smaller than a mechanical or hardwired one and can perform the same tasks and more. The quality of these processors is improving every day and costs are lowering due to the large market demand and manufacturers competing for our business.
