Mahatma Gandhi created a weapon of nonviolent resistance, which is though to be the way in which India gained its independence in 1947. Gandhi’s way of nonviolence lead to the beginning of a new nation. One of Gandhi’s acts of nonviolent resistance was the peaceful 200-mile Salt March to the salt deposits. More than 60,000 people, lead by Gandhi, marched miles to create their own salt. ... Gandhi and his people refused to give up, so they continued to march on. ... Gandhi’s way of nonviolence showed his strong and intelligent mind as a leader who lead many to follow him. ... Gandhi wanted the best for his people, so he so “caringly” worked to make the best for his people. ... As British officials began to open fire, Indians remembered Gandhi’s message. ... Gandhi, known, as a “charismatic” leader, wanted the best for his nation.
