In the beginning of the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein, with whom most people consider the protagonist, has the desire to discover the “secret of life” in the creation of a human being. ... To the creature, Frankenstein is his father and when he is abandoned, he feels neglected and hurt, not knowing how to take care of himself. ... Frankenstein abandons his creation as if it is inhuman stating, "I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. ... Due to his horrible physical constraints, the monster, alone and left on his own, develops a deadly hatred against his creator Frankenstein and against all of mankind. ... His hatred grew from his neglect and abandonment. ... Frankenstein’s unwillingness to accept his creation lead to society’s rejection of him. ... The creature wants Frankenstein to feel what he feels. ... He doesnt come across nearly as horrific as he is believed to be in the eyes of Frankenstein. In reality, the monster feels loneliness and abandonment by society and his creator.
