In Walt Whitman’s poetry he constantly makes references about himself and stress’ the same ideas and themes in his poetry. Whitman can be characterized in the lines, “My tongue, every atom of blood, form’d from this soul, this air, Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same”, of “Song of Myself 1.” Not only does this line characterize Whitman, but it is also a consistant theme that Whitman expresses throughout his work.
