NedCar Case NedCar is a multinational company that produces cars. The company opened in 1967 and was originally a Dutch company. In 1972 the Swedish partners entered into the company. By 1992, the Dutch part of the company was taken over by the state, and the Japanese company Mitshubishi joined the partnership. The arrival of the new Japanese partner brought about a lot of changes. The Japanese insisted on an increase in quality and productivity. This was put into effect by decreasing the manhours per car from 35 to 25. While this increase productivity, it did not seem to improve the quality because the workers were perhaps not used to working at such a fast pace. One of the employees at NedCar is Casper van Hilten. He is Assistant Manager of Production Engineering and reports to the Japanese Takeo Harada. Also, if the production or quality department want to make a change, this has to be reported to and approved by Production Engineering. Lately, the company has been experiencing some problems. There have been starting problems due to insufficiently charged batteries.
