... However, he is in fact troubled by the friendship between his wife and the blind man. His annoyance toward the blind man is built up from the blind man’s aspect and his wife’s aspect, and it is revealed through the story.
Usually, a man knows his partner more than any other man. However, the blind man apparently knows more about the narrator’s wife than the narrator himself. First, the blind man knows the narrator’s wife before the narrator, so the blind man is a part of the narrator’s past, which the narrator can never be. In addition, the blind man talks to the narrator’s wife frequently since they’ve become friends. Before the narrator’s wife meets the narrator, the blind man is the person she talks to when she has complains about her first husband, who is an Air Force officer. Moreover, the greatest intolerance for the narrator about the blind man is that prior to the narrator even exists in his wife’s life, the blind man’s fingers has touched “every part of her face, her nose-even her neck,” where is a sexual sensitive part of a woman.
