Symptomology and Etiology of Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial personality Disorder is a destructive disorder with multiple etiologies and symptoms. Genetic factors and biological factors both play an important role in antisocial personality disorder. There are several names for antisocial personality disorder, but the etiology and symptomology is similar. ... The habitual antisocial behavior stems from genetic and psychosocial factors whereas occasional antisocial behavior arises from psychosocial factors. Research shows that both biological and psychosocial factors are both equally important in diagnosing Antisocial Personality Disorder.
Antisocial Personality was previously known as both psychopathic and sociopathic disorder. Antisocial personality and psychopathy are very similar, but there is a small difference. Antisocial Personality Disorder focuses on the antisocial behavior and Psychopathy focuses on the lack of appropriate emotions such as regret, fear or shame and lack of fear. However both names share the same symptomology and etiology. Like most personality disorders, there are many factors that may contribute to the development of symptoms.
