The Humanistic Approach

The Humanistic Approach 1. What does this theory add to the study of personality? The humanistic theory is based on the idea that people have the free will to be anybody they want to be through self actualization. People who fall into this category are very self centered and satisfied with life. They are generally happy but should there be something on their minds they aren’t afraid to express their true feelings because they are comfortable with who they are. This seems like an easygoing, easy to get along with type of personality. 2. How is this theory different from previous theories? With the humanistic theory, the focus of an individual’s problems isn’t based on the actual problem itself. It is focused upon the person.
