Clouds contain ice, water, or a mixture of the two. ... The clouds are named based on the
types of clouds or the clouds height. When cirrus and cumulus clouds are joined, they
produce cirrocumulus clouds(ThinkQuest 1).
Cirrus clouds are a type of delicate, high altitude cloud. These clouds are very
light and fine and regularly have a feathery, hairlike type of appearance(PSC Meteorology
Program 2). Cirrus clouds are high level clouds which are made of ice crystals that come
from extremely cooled water droplets, which have become frozen. These crystals are very
little, which combined with the way they are widely separated, justifies for the way most
cirrus clouds are almost transparent.
