A Glutent Society- The Dysfunction of American Portion Sizes You know the expression "chewing the fat"? It is meant in reference to simple chit-chat conversations, but if you walk down any of the streets in America, I don't think that people are just talking about "chewing the fat", I think that they are actually doing it. I read last week that sixty percent of Americans were overweight and that number was expected to keep climbing as the twenty-somethings entered their thirties. This all got me thinking what is it about America that gets and keeps us so overweight? I worked as a waitress for about a year and half, and with any job you see some pretty unusal and disturbing things.
