SCULPTURE TOUR ASSIGNMENT
1. ... Balance is a very difficult element to express and even more difficult when it comes to sculpture depending of what kind of message you want to give out to your viewers. ... As the common knowledge we all have geometric figures is synonymous of exactness and perfection , for instance: some of these figures have equal side, angles and vertices which contribute with the whole concept portrayed in the sculpture. Also, the sculpture adds three basic solid foundations to emphasize that in everything that we do, create or invent has its foundation. ... I think its is important that this sculpture was made on a larger scale because, its is clear and we can get more from it rather that if it were much smaller, it might have been insignificant and its context would have been distorted. ... My favorite things on both of these sculpture is the presence of their daily tools that allowed them to accomplish their work. ... For example: In Young’s Agriculture, the statue has a focal point; it brings his two hands to the agricultural tool, whereas, in the Industry sculpture the focal point is more open oriented. ... This sculpture has very rough areas surfaces. ... I also think that the table plays a great role as a contrasting texture which adds another element of sculpture. ... What would have happened if the sculpture was limited to a different type of element for example relief? ... Also in a relief type of sculpture, we are limited to certain things that we want to portray to the viewer such as: treatment of body, scale, etc. ... I had a positive and a peaceful feeling as I walked around the sculpture. Reading the scripture inscribed at the base f the sculpture gave me great insights of the message being sent out. ... I liked the way the sculpture is lifted up on the air and specially the individual’s head pointing upward: here again we see another way of expressing resurrection. ... The representation of the stone foundation ( this was a deserted valley when pioneers came) there are numerous and well description of objects added in the sculpture such as: wagon wheels, crickets, statue of Brigham Young, seagull, an eye that could represent the watching eye of God over his people.
