The reason I admired and appreciated this movie was that it gave me as well as other young African American males hope in the belief that we could succeed and achieve power if we put our mind to it. Malcolm overcame obstacles such as being in foster homes, a hustler and thief to even spending a substantial time in prison. ...
In my mind, one scene in the movie soared above the rest. Malcolm’s Muslim associate, Brother Johnson, was beaten severely by white police officers and taken in to custody.
