“Walden” Choices: Building Your Portfolio
Writers Notebook
In the story “Walden” Thoreau lived alone in the woods, a mile away from any neighborhood, in a house which he had built himself. He lived in this house on the shore of Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts, and he had earned his living by the labor of his hands only. He lived at Walden Pond in the woods for two years and two months. ...
Thoreau says he moved to Walden Pond alone to make life simpler. I really do not think it is right that he should move there, to Walden Pond just because he is to lazy to pay his own taxes.
