Through his history plays, he’s not too sure about the divine rights of Kings and questions this. Shakespeare wrote 37-38 famous plays in the course of a quarter century. All of Shakespeare’s plays were based on a poem or story he had heard. Boys and men played all the parts in Shakespeare's plays in Elizabethan times. The classical writers studied in the classroom influenced Shakespeare’s plays and poetry’s. Actors performing in Shakespeare's time usually received only copies of their parts, not entire plays. A few of Shakespeare’s plays are difficult to categorize and depend on how you define "comedy," "tragedy," and so forth. Shakespeare’s Tragedy, Macbeth Shakespeare first began writing tragedies because he felt the tragic plots used by other English writers were lacking artistic purpose and form. The person who influenced Shakespeare to write Macbeth was King James I of England (1566-1625). Macbeth was a real king; Shakespeare intertwined the history of Macbeth with events of King James life to create his masterpiece. Macbeth was one of Shakespeare’s first plays. English culture and society as well as the historical figure Macbeth impacted Shakespeare’s infamous play. Shakespeare’s Comedy, The Merry Wives of Windsor The Merry Wives of Windsor was Shakespeare’s only domestic comedy. The Merry Wives of Windsor was also the only play Shakespeare wrote that consists of middle class people. In this play, Shakespeare is describing town life.
